Pre-natal  Residential Programs and Services

Our pre-natal residence, Phase I of our residential program, is a group living setting with a capacity of 22 mothers and babies, and is staffed by residential counsellors 24 hours/ 7  days per week. Young woman arrive at any time during pregnancy, and may stay with their babies for up to two months after delivery.

Prenatal program goals:

   birth of healthy babies
   early bonding
   effective newborn care
   teaching life skills for parenting and independent living.

Expectant moms actively participate in their plan of care design. Plans are individualized for each new mom-to-be and designed to focus on their strengths. Expectant and new moms must participate in structured program activities which may include:

   school
   work or pre-employment preparation
   group activities
   medical appointments
   counselling (individual and or family/relationship)
   health & wellness sessions
   pre-natal classes
   physician-supervised exercise
   outings (eg, visit local attractions, movies, sporting events)
   celebratory parties

The Ontario Early Years Program at Massey Centre served more than 1000 parents and caregivers and 1017 children between April 2008- March 2009.
