Become a Volunteer
Give the gift of time. Volunteer at the Massey Centre. Our moms and babies benefit from the participation of volunteers across our programs. Each year, Massey Centre volunteers contribute more than 3,000 hours to support our programs alongside our staff.
All of our volunteer positions are currently full. Typical volunteer positions include:
Kitchen Volunteers – Assist the Cook with a variety of tasks, including unpacking groceries, loading/unloading the dishwasher, and preparing/serving meals.
Office Volunteers – Assist with a variety of administrative tasks, including reception, data entry, filing, and mailings.
Parent Relief Volunteers – provide basic child care while a child’s young mother does her chores or takes a much-needed break. Parent relief volunteers volunteer approximately twice a month. Shifts are on weekdays in the morning from 9am-12pm or evening 5pm-7pm or 6pm-8pm.
Ontario government legislation requires that all employees and volunteers of the Massey Centre have a Police Reference Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening. If you have had this check and screening done in the last six months, please submit the original document to the Volunteer Coordinator. If you have not had this done, you can process it through us at a cost of $20. Massey Centre will reimburse you after you volunteer for 30 hours. Volunteers also need to fill out a health form with their doctor. This form will be provided to you at your interview.
"Massey Centre not only gave me the ability to care for my child, but the motivation to get what I wanted for my life - to have my daughter with me and to live independently."
